Domain Name System (DNS)

What is FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name)

A Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is the complete and exact domain name of a server or host on the internet. It includes the hostname together with the domain name and uniquely identifies the system within the global DNS.

For nameserver configuration, the FQDN represents the exact hostname of the nameserver responsible for managing DNS records of a domain.

Example Description
ns1.example.com Hostname: ns1 | Domain: example.com
ns2.example.com Hostname: ns2 | Domain: example.com

2 Login to the official .np domain management system using your registered account credentials.
3 Navigate to the domain list and select the domain for which you want to update the nameserver.
4 Choose the Edit DNS option.
5 Enter the nameserver details in FQDN format such as:
ns1.yourhostingprovider.com
ns2.yourhostingprovider.com

Note: Only FQDN format is accepted. IP addresses are not allowed.
6 Review the information and submit the request through the system.

Note: Nameserver modification requests sent via email will not be entertained. All requests must be submitted through the online system.
